Donate to the children.
In mid-1996, we began the pre-selection process for children with the help of a very small group of members from our congregation. At that time, we were a chapel belonging to the Central Assemblies of God of Haina. Registration closed in July 1997 with a total of 150 children. In September of that year, we received our first donation, and on October 7th, we began working directly with the children. Our staff consisted of three teachers for both morning and afternoon sessions, a secretary, an accountant, a director, a kitchen manager, and a custodian (a total of eight sisters). The beginning of our program was difficult due to several limitations, including: a small staff, as our congregation was 80% elderly, forcing us to seek staff from another congregation; no experience in education; a space with limited furniture; and pressure from parents who believed that everything in the program had to be implemented from the first month and continued throughout the program. We thank God for blessing us with a good staff who work the necessary time with great care and love without caring about any kind of gratification.
The King of Kings Assembly of God Church in Haina, San Cristóbal, has an enrollment of more than 265 children and adolescents, who are being impacted spiritually, physically, socio-emotionally and cognitively, providing opportunities to escape the poverty in which they live.
Our team of professional, dedicated collaborators and volunteers from the Assembly of God King of Kings Church, led by Sister Mayra Norman, lovingly and dedicatedly impact the lives of children and teenagers.
